Failure to obtain a Building Permit PRIOR to the start of all applicable projects will be subject to a fine equal to the cost of the permit PLUS the charges associated with obtaining the permit.

A BUILDING PERMIT IS NOT REQUIRED FOR THE FOLLOWING:

Driveway Replacement
Screen Door Replacement
Deck - low to the ground (30" or below) and sitting on blocks
Fences 6 feet high and under - City Code: Fences & Screening
Installation of chain link fences
Sheds (200 square feet or smaller)
Installation of movable cases, counters, and/OR partitions not over 5 feet 9 inches high
Platforms, walks, and driveways not over 30 inches above grade and not over a basement or story below
Cosmetic: painting, wallpapering, paneling, replacing cabinets
temporary stage sets and scenery
gutters
installing carpeting or other flooring
window awnings not projecting more than 54 inches
prefabricated above grade swimming pools of a capacity of 5,000 gallons or less
