Water Quality Concerns

June 22, 2021

The city has been receiving questions regarding the quality of city water.

At this time there is NO boil order in town.

The chlorine level in the water was tested in several locations today, June 22, 2021, including directly from the wellhouse. Those readings read 1.67 mg/L at the wellhouse, and ranged from 0.47 to 0.08 in other locations around the city. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines a chlorine reading of 4.0 mg/L is safe for consumption. A link to the CDC website is listed below.

The chlorine levels in the water are regularly tested to ensure safety and quality. Currently the chlorine in the water is cleaning the piping system, and it will take time for the pipes to be cleaned.

If you have questions or concerns about the water please call the city at 218-334-4991.
